Choir group North
Events of the Chorgruppe Nord
202503 - Chorgruppe Nord performs church concert in Kirburg
The voice as instrument of the year inspires in Kirburg
CThe audience experienced high-level hormusik at the beginning of spring in the newly restored Kirburg church. Seven choirs from the choir group Nord of the choir association Westerwald showed their skills. The impressive performance of the choirs made it clear why the human voice was deservedly voted ‘Instrument of the Year’ this year.
Pastor of the Ev. Municipality, Rüdiger Stein welcomed the many visitors to the concert before the chairman of the Chorgruppe Nord, Lothar Riebel, took over the official welcome. Katharina Kühn took over the presentation of the individual choirs and leads entertainingly through the program.
The participating choirs: the Mixed Chorus Klangart 2008 Stockhum-Püschen (conductor: Andreas Risse), the mixed choir Chorespondnz of Klangwelt Fehl-Ritzhausen (direction: Marcin Murawski), the MGV Liederkranz Luckenbach (direction: Marcin Murawski), the Mixed Choir New Voices Neustadt (lead: Isabel Stolpmann), the women's choir Akzente Daaden-Biersdorf (lead: Isabel Stolpmann), the local choir MGV KiMöNo – Kirchen, Mörlen, Norken (head: Andreas Risse) and the Mixed Choir Frohsinn Hirtscheid (lead: Edda Sevenich).
With this concert, the Chorgruppe Nord in the Chorverband Westerwald was able to present a wide range of choral music styles. The range ranged from secular music such as the hit ‘So soll es noch’ (So shall it remain) by Annette Humpe to classics such as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ (Freddie Mercury) and ‘Sound of Silence’ (Paul Simon) and traditional choral music. The well-known ‘freedom’ of Marius Müller-Westernhagen and the cheerful ‘Veronika, der Lenz ist da’ were also a source of enthusiasm. The audience was amused by Max Raabe’s ‘For women this is not a problem’.

Prior to the final blessing, Father Stein stressed that this concert evening was an occasion to thank God – a feeling that is also wonderfully expressed by the choral song ‘Schau auf die Welt’ by John Rutter. The chorus of the song reads: Praise be to thee, O Lord, for thy creation. Let us be thankful that we see. All good gifts, all blessings, all this comes from you.’ The organiser also expressed this thanks, in which the concert was held free of charge, but the proceeds of the voluntary donations were made available to the Outpatient Children's and Youth Hospice Service Westerwald (Hachenburg).
The concert closed with roaring applause. The church community then invited to a cozy get-together in the Protestant church house, in which the experienced concert is still being recreated in the personal encounter.
