The Choir association Westerwald (CV West) is the regionally important network for choral music in the Westerwald. With round 100 choirs We actively shape the choral landscape of the region from children's, youth, women's, men's and mixed ensembles.

Our mission

  • Promotion of choral music in all its facets – from classical literature to church and folk songs to pop and modern arrangements.
  • Education and training: We conduct workshops, choir workshops and conducting courses (e.g. the Level 2 Choral Conductor Seminar in Westerwald).
  • Connecting events, Bringing choirs together, inspiring audiences and promoting music-making as a community experience.

Big events & Highlights

  • Westerwälder choir festival in the Stöffelpark (since 2019): Multi-day festivals with 50+ choirs on several stages – an experience for active people and families. In 2023, we celebrated our 100th anniversary for the second time under the motto ‘Singing Westerwald’.
  • ChorAktiv in Montabaur: Interactive choral festival series with performances from the youth choir to the adult ensemble on a central stage.
  • Regional workshops such as ‘Singing according to sheet music’, feedback singing, choir workshops in the Montabaur Musikgymnasium, children’s choir days and regular group seminars in the choir groups North, Middle and South.
  • Anniversary events on the 100th anniversary: Church concert in Kirburg (November 2022) and a big festival weekend in Wirges (June 2022).

Our structure

Following a recent reform of the statutes, the leadership of the ‘Association management’ Taken over – consisting of speaker, deputy speaker, treasurer, management, choir director and specialists in child and youth promotion, training, event management and press work.
Founded in 1922, the CV Westerwald can look back on more than 100 years of history, continuous cultural commitment and a strong coexistence of the choirs.
